A Brantford man is recovering in hospital after falling overly 30 ft. over a stairway at the Fox Theatre in Detroit.

What started as a fun night at a Beck concert on June 28, ended in tragedy for David Bull. The husband and father was headed down a long staircase in the historic Fox Theatre at the end of the concert, when he fell over the railing.

“How he fell over the rail, I don’t know. I don’t know if anybody really knows,” says co-worker Ryan Hantz. “Hopefully when he comes to enough to talk to us, he can tell us.”

Bull is now at Detroit Receiving Hospital. Hantz says Bull suffered a crack skull and broken vertebrae, however hospital officials would only confirm that he’s in critical condition.

“He’s not improving greatly, but he’s not getting worse. The doctors seem OK with that. They say he’s progressing normally,” says Hantz. “They’re concentrating mainly on his head.”

Hantz adds Bull has undergone surgery to remove a piece of skull.

“I know that (his wife’s) hurting, I know that she’s having a rough time with it, but I think she’s doing a great job.”

A crowdfunding campaign has been created to help cover costs Bull might incur while in hospital in Detroit. At the time of writing, the campaign has already raised $4,735. The goal is to raise $10,000.
