Owen Sound police have recovered a body believed to be that of missing solider Andrew Fitzgerald.

Around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit found human remains near the water treatment facility on the east shore of the Owen Sound harbour.

The coroner attended the scene and has ordered a post-mortem examination to be conducted at the London Health Sciences Centre.

A news conference will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m to update the media.

Fitzgerald, 19, was out celebrating with friends, but vanished early Saturday morning.

The last known image of Fitzgerald was captured at 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning on a surveillance camera at an Own Sound gas station.
