Windsor police have laid additional charges, including attempted murder, after a backyard beating.

On May 22, police were called to a home in the 1600 block of Laing in response to a domestic assault in progress.

Two people were previously charged with aggravated assault after a 39-year-old woman was found injured inside a tent in a backyard, say police.

Once on scene, officers found the alleged victim suffering from serious injuries consistent with a beating or a series of assaults. She was taken hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit.

Detectives from the Major Crime Branch continued to investigate the incident and say that multiple assaults took place over a period of time.  

As a result of the investigation, detectives have placed additional charges on the accused parties.They also have an unconfirmed report of another possible victim from the past. 

The female victim is out of intensive care, but is still in hospital receiving treatment for her injuries.

Jonathon Riley, 25, from London is charged with aggravated assault, utter threats x2, assault with a weapon x2, forcible confinement, trafficking persons, assault causing bodily harm, assault. 

Kaiyla Schram, 27, from London is charged with attempted murder, trafficking persons, uttering threats, aggravated assault, assault, forcible confinement, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon.
