Campus police at the University of Windsor are urging everyone to be aware of their surroundings after a recent backpack snatching attempt.

A student was walking on Riverside Drive West near the Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Researchon Wednesday. He was approached from behind by a lone male who tried to grab his backpack, according to campus police.

The student managed to hold onto the backpack and the suspect fled south on Rosedale Ave.

The suspect is described as a black male at least six-feet tall. He was wearing a grey hoodie with the hood pulled up.

Campus police say the suspect description fits the same general description of a suspicious male seen in the area of Vanier Hall and the Clark Residences early Wednesday morning.

Anyone with information on these incidents can notify Campus Community Police at (519) 253-3000 ext. 1234 or Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS.
