The Assumption Church on Windsor’s west side will be open to the public again today.

It will be open from Noon to 6 p.m. on Monday.

Hundreds of people walked through the doors of the historic church on Sunday, to celebrate the "Feast of the Assumption."

The Catholic Diocese of London allowed the church to open for prayer, and it allowed many people to reminisce about the church.

Assumption was closed in 2014, and masses have been held at the former Holy Name of Mary Church ever since.

Officials say at least $15-million is needed for wiring and mechanical repairs to re-open Assumption.

Many people who walked through the Church on Sunday hope to see it re-open someday, because of its history and beauty.

The Assumption parish was founded in 1767, making it the oldest Roman Catholic parish west of Montreal.
