Another Pelee Island Ferry has run into mechanical issues this Canada Day Weekend.
The Pelee Islander II's water cooling system was clogged by fish flies Sunday.
The Jiimaan was put into service but was forced to drop anchor off the shore of Leamington at around 10 a.m. Monday and a number of passengers were stranded on the ship in Lake Erie for several hours.
The Owen Sound Transportation Company, which operates the ferry service, said food supplies were sent to the ship for passengers as well as additional engine room help.
The Pelee Islander II, which cost $40 million, was returned to service around 3 p.m. Monday.
The smaller Pelee Islander I was also put into service to handle trips to and from Pelee Island.
Calls to the Pelee Island Ferry Service have not been returned.
