An Amherstburg man has been found not guilty of impaired driving causing death in a fatal snowmobile crash in 2010.
A judge handed down the verdict Tuesday in a Windsor court to 23-year-old Trevor Skeates. However, he was found guilty of driving over the legal blood-alcohol limit.
The charges stem from an incident back in January 2010, where Skeates and 19-year-old Corey Meloche were riding a snowmobile. The two hit a ditch – pinning Meloche beneath the machine. She would later die of her injuries in a Detroit hospital.
Sentencing for Skeates is scheduled to take place on April 16 at 10 a.m.
