Authorities confirm to CTV News that a tip came in through Crime Stoppers that the threat that put several areas schools on high alert was made over Twitter.

According to Windsor police, officers were called to the college’s main campus shortly before 9 a.m. Thursday looking for someone who may have had a firearm.

Police have since determined that the threat was not made against the college.

An 18-year-old was arrested at Riverside High School in relation to the alleged threat.

Officials say at no point was the college on lockdown.

The Greater Essex County District School Board assures students within their school system, including Riverside, were "in a safe situation".

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
