Chatham-Kent police say a 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with multiple shoplifting incidents over the past three days.

Investigators say between Tuesday and Thursday, about $350 worth of meat was taken from the No Frills on Queen Street in Chatham.

A man was captured on video surveillance placing meat in his backpack, then leaving the store without making any attempt to pay.

On Thursday, the same thing happened, but the man was approached by an employee and detained until police arrived.

As a result, Matthew Wright of Wellington Street in Chatham, has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
