Windsor police say a witness helped catch a break-in suspect by taking a video of the man fleeing on his bicycle.
The witness called police on Sept. 21, saying he saw a suspect exiting the back door of a residence in the 500 block of Wellington Avenue. The witness told police the suspect had a beige bag slung over his shoulder like "Santa Claus" as he took off on a bicycle.
Police say the witness followed the suspect in a vehicle Eastbound on University Avenue West. He videotaped the suspect on his bicycle and let him know that he saw what he did.
The suspect apparently swore at the witness and rode off. He eventually ducked into an apartment building in the 600 block of University Avenue West.
Officers who responded to the call watched the video and identified the suspect. They returned to house of the alleged break-in and waited for the homeowner to arrive.
Police say the back door was forced and that frozen meat and a jewelry box were taken.
Officers tried to find the suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.
He was arrested on Tuesday at 4 a.m. at a home in the 2300 block of Tourangeau.
Brandon Quinn Davis, 31, of Windsor is charged with break and enter.
