The Sarnia Humane Society says a young male cat was brought into the shelter Sunday evening, after being shot in the head with a pellet gun.

Joe as he’s being referred to by veterinarians, sustained 17 pellet shots to the head. As a result, Joe will lose one of his eyes due to the trauma received during the incident.

Officials also report Joe was severely dehydrated and malnourished.

The cat was transferred to Blue Cross Animal Hospital, where he was put on an IV drip and administered pain medication. Surgery is being put off for the time being, while Joe regains his strength.

The OSPCA is now investigating the matter and is looking for the public’s help. They say Joe was found on Lakeshore Road in Brights Grove, west of Brigend road near Mike Weir Park.

Anyone with information is asked to call the OSPCA at 519-344-7064.
