TORONTO - Premier Kathleen Wynne says Ontario is being treated unfairly by the federal Conservatives, and she wants to see steps taken in Tuesday's budget to correct the situation.

Ontario is fuming after the federal government cut $641 million in transfers to the province in December, and wants some of that money back in Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's budget.

Wynne says if any other province faced such a cut under the complicated formula used to determine federal transfers, Ottawa would have made sure that province was "made whole" and did not get any less money.

She says it's wrong for the Conservatives to balance the federal budget "on the backs" of Ontario workers.

Wynne says it wasn't right that the Tories changed the rules on transfers to the provinces without any consultation.

Ontario also wants to see an infrastructure strategy in the budget that would have the federal government partner with provinces and municipalities to build roads, bridges and public transit.
