Windsor police say they are investigating an attempted murder, kidnapping and forcible confinement incident.

According to police, it began in the 3700 block of Montcalm in Windsor on Tuesday.

An adult female was allegedly kidnapped by a man who was known to her, and taken out of the city by vehicle. 

Police say she was able to make her escape from the vehicle off of the 401 near Ingersoll, Ont., and the police were contacted.

 The suspect was subsequently arrested at a truck stop in Woodstock with the assistance of both the Ontario Provincial Police and the Woodstock Police Service, in the early morning hours on Wednesday.

 A 42-year-old man has been arrested and has been charged with attempted murder, forcible confinement, kidnapping and assault with a weapon, as well as several other offences.

Windsor police is seeking any information the public may have with respect to this offence.
