A Windsor police officer suffered a stab wound to the hand, following an incident last night at the Caesars Windsor. Police say the officer was working at the casino on contract duty, meaning he was hired by the casino as extra security.

A male patron was asked to leave the casino for allegedly pulling the fire alarms. The officer was asked to assist security guards. As the man was being escorted out just before midnight, a fight started. Police say the officer was stabbed in the hand, at which point he pulled out his taser and discharged it. The first attempt did not subdue the man, but the second time it did. A 50-year-old man was arrested and is facing seven charges, including uttering threats and aggravated assault.

Meanwhile, the officer required surgery on his hand, and is now recovering at home. Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830, or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-TIPS.
