A two-year-old child survived a fall from a second-story window of a Windsor apartment building.

Police say it happened around 9:10 p.m. on Thursday night in the 1000 block of Felix Avenue.

Officers say when they arrived a distraught female was holding the child in her arms.  Police approached the female and saw the child had a large bump on his forehead, but he was alert and moving.

Emergency crews arrived and immediately attended to the child.  He was transported by ambulance to Hotel-Dieu Grace Hospital.

Investigation revealed the child climbed on a window ledge from an adjacent sofa, say police. He could have pushed on the screen and fell to the paved lot about five to six meters below.

His caregivers were home at the time of the incident.

The child suffered no broken bones.  His non-life threatening injuries include a swollen forehead with facial abrasions and a swollen right eye.

Child and Family Services was called in to investigate.
