The FINA 25-meter swimming championships are 50 days away, though there’s word that our city will also be hosting a large convention about aquatics before the competition even begins.

In Windsor, we will be looking at the latest scientific evidence on how to make athletes swim better and swim faster, we will also be looking at the latest evidence on how to look after their health.

Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens says the FINA World Aquatics Convention & FINA World Sports Medicine Congress will be held at Caesars Windsor from Dec. 3-5. The actual races don't start until Dec. 6.

FINA officials say the convention is held every four years and is a chance for everyone in aquatics from researchers to businesses to get together to improve their sport and to build the business around it.

The top swimmers in the world, including Canadian phenome Penny Oleksiak and LaSalle's Kylie Masse will be competing.

FINA officials are also hoping American star swimmer Michael Phelps will be in Windsor, not to compete, but to be celebrated.
