A Windsor homeless resource centre is asking to the public to keep their eyes open after five of their laptops were stolen.

Street Help Unit 7 says the Asus laptop computers were allegedly stolen by a volunteer at the shelter on Wednesday. The suspect has since been deported to authorities in the United States for other charges he's said to be facing.

Street help administrator, Christine Wilson Furlonger, says it's disappointing as the users of the homeless resource centre depend on the computers to look for shelter, employment or to keep in touch with friends and relatives far away.

Wilson says the computers are missing their power cords.
