Windsor Regional Hospital and the City of Windsor are encouraging residents to register to be an organ donor, especially since Windsor’s registration rates are below the provincial average.
Registration rates in Windsor are at 23 per cent, below the provincial average of 27 per cent. The city is 162nd out of 179 Ontario communities.
Hospital officials are also telling people to make their wishes known when it comes to organ and tissue donation and register online to ensure their consent is understood.
Registering online is the best way to ensure medical staff know and understand an individual’s wishes. It requires a health card and about two minutes.
Local community leaders throughout Windsor and Essex County are trying to raise awareness in a new 60-second promotional video.
