Windsor police officers will be cracking down on drivers running red lights and stop signs in July.

Statistics from 2012 show that 57 per cent of the accidents in Windsor were intersection related and motor vehicle accidents are up 9 per cent from this time last year, say police.

Police say there is a known correlation between increased enforcement and reduction of traffic accidents.

Windsor police will be targeting high-risk intersections as well as others to enforce failing to stop for red lights, amber lights and stop signs. Rolling stops will be ticketed as well as improper turns which includes failing to signal or stop completely.
