Windsor police are looking for a suspect after a convenience store was allegedly robbed by a man with a steak knife.

Officers were called to the Alfin Convenience Store in the 400 block of Erie Street West at 12:15 p.m. on Monday. Police searched the area for the suspect, but didn’t find him.

Investigation suggests the suspect entered the store and went to the back of the business. He then approached the counter, walking up one of the aisles. The steak knife apparently had a four-inch blade and a wooden handle.

Police say as the suspect walked up, he produced a steak knife from his hoodie pocket and demanded money. He fled the store with a small amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a Middle Eastern male, about 20 to 25 years of age, 6'3", with scruffy facial hair and a large build. He was wearing blue baggy sweat pants, a black and green hoodie with diamond patterns, and tan-coloured work boots.

He was last seen walking westbound on Erie Street West and then Northbound on Bruce Avenue.

Police viewed security video at the scene and were able to identify the suspect. Additional attempts were made to locate the suspect with negative results. An arrest warrant is being prepared.
