The City of Windsor is set to light up streets, parks and public spaces in December with almost one million decorative bulbs.

City Parks and Facilities crews have been busy installing seasonal lighting including approximately 500,000 bulbs on trees in the intersection of Dougall Avenue and EC Row.

John Miceli, executive director of Parks and Facilities, said in a statement "This year we added new locations and some new finishes to established locations...We want people to get out and enjoy the parks year round, so adding decorative lighting entices people to explore the parks during the winter.”

Trees and lampposts along Ouellette Avenue, at Dieppe Gardens and other riverfront parks, Howard Avenue, and Charles Clark Square, Mackenzie Hall, trees at the WFCU Centre, Lanspeary Park, Gino & Liz Marcus Community Complex, Willistead Manor and Jackson Park have all been decorated.

The lights will officially be turned on in all areas on December 1st.

A number of impressive private displays are also up around the city, including one at Tranby Avenue and Matthew Brady, where neighbours have come together to collect toys in support of Toy Mountain and Sparky's Toy Drive, which both help the Salvation Army.
