A Windsor police officer has been demoted from the rank of first-class constable to second class for discredible conduct involving stolen lottery tickets.

Const. Timothy Kettlewell's demotion will be in effect for 15 months.

He pleaded guilty Friday to two counts of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act.

Last April, Kettlewell found two lottery tickets while investigating the recovery of a stolen or lost bag, put them in the visor of his cruiser and later pocketed them.

Kettlewell, 38, had argued it was an honest mistake as he thought the tickets were his own.
