Members of the Windsor Mosque say they're embarking on a traffic study to help improve traffic flow and minimize congestion around their place of worship.

The Windsor Islamic Association says it is concerned there's a perception the congregation is at odds with nearby residents on Northwood Street and Dominion Boulevard.

Members point to a petition against the city of Windsor's plan to reshuffle Friday parking zones.

Parking comes at a premium in the south Windsor neighbourhood on Friday because those people coming to pray look for spots already taken by staff and students at two nearby schools.

The group says it wants to work with all parties to find a solution, which shouldn't inconvenience residents.

Councillor Paul Borrelli is hoping a solution will be in place before the next school year starts.
