Windsor police have laid several charges following a strange incident early Sunday morning in the area of Tecumseh and Curry.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, officers were called about a report of a van that had been stolen by a man who was bleeding heavily from a stab wound to his arm.

Police discovered he was stabbed in the 1300 block of Curry.

The injured man then flagged down a van driving in the area and while the occupants exited to assist him,

Police say he then jumped into the driver's seat and began to drive away.

While leaving the scene one of the occupants who had exited to assist the male, was struck by the van.

The van then sped off with two occupants still inside.

While travelling on Tecumseh Rd near Crawford, the van struck another vehicle causing minor damage.

The man then drove the van to Hotel Dieu Grace Hospital where he was arrested.

The two remaining occupants in the van were uninjured.

The man under arrest was to undergo surgery for his injuries.

The female stuck by the van was treated and released from hospital.

Ronald Contraras, 31, of Windsor has been charged with robbery, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, two counts of forcible confinement and two counts of fail to remain.

Contraras has been remanded into custody.   The investigation is ongoing.
