University of Windsor Lancer runner Corey Bellemore has signed a deal with apparel company, Adidas.

Bellemore is a stand-out in both track and field and cross country, also earning the Olympic Shield as the university’s best male athlete of 2016.

But he’s also the world record holder in the beer mile – running four laps of a full-sized track, while also consuming four beers.

His ran his new world record of 4:34.35 this past summer on a whim. His brother and a friend grabbed a 6-pack of beer and courted Bellemore to a Windsor track for the impromptu solo race. He unofficially broke the world record with a time of 4:39.

Less than 48 hours later, he was on his way to the Beer Mile World Classic in the United Kingdom. That’s where he set the official record.

Bellemore says the sponsorship from Adidas is mostly for track, but obviously the beer mile helped him with exposure.

“If the beer mile keeps growing, I’ll grow with them,” he says. “With that being said, though, track is still my main focus and I will put that as the priority.”

It’s the beer mile exploits that also landed the 22-year-old track star on TMZ.com this week.

Bellemore says it was pretty crazy to see himself on TMZ.

“I used to watch the show all the time after school in high school and never thought for a minute I would be on the show one day,” Bellemore said.

“I’m not one for attention so it’s a bit weird being all out there on social media right now.”

Bellemore plans to run another off-season beer mile on December 17, before returning his focus to the track for his senior season with the Windsor Lancers.
