A woman is in critical condition after a downtown apartment fire early Friday morning.
Crews were called out to the 11th floor of the building at 810 Ouellette Avenue just before 3a.m.
Flames were seen coming out the window of one of the units. Firefighters knocked down the flames and removed the smoke from the building.
Three people were transported to hospital. The woman is in critical and two others were released from hospital Friday afternoon with non-life threatening injuries. All three suffered smoke inhalation, but no burns. One victim was trying to help a neighbour escape.
The Ontario Fire Marshal was called in to investigate a cause and determine an estimate of damage.
