TORONTO - About 350-thousand customers are without electricity after a massive weather system coated southern Ontario with ice, including about 250-thousand in the Greater Toronto Area.

Officials say it could take up to three days to get everyone in Toronto reconnected.

The weather conditions have also resulted in scores of flight cancellations and delays, and travellers are advised to check their flights before heading to the airport.

Transit is also being affected. Toronto has shut down street car service and some subway and rapid transit service is suspended because downed trees and electrical issues.

Via Rail is warning commuters to expect delays on its Toronto-Montreal and Toronto-Ottawa routes.

Motorists are being advised to stay off the roads unless travel is absolutely necessary. Officials are warning people to avoid downed power lines, and stay a safe distance from trees to avoid falling branches.
