It's going to get nasty, just as people are out on the roads heading to Super Bowl parties.

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warming for Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

Total snowfall amounts are generally expected to be in the 15 to 25 centimetre range, but they could be as much as 30 centimetres, especially near the Great Lakes.

Winds will strengthen and become gusty Sunday evening, reducing visibilities to 0.5 kilometres or less in blowing snow.

The combination of snow and blowing snow will make for hazardous travelling conditions. Environment Canada suggests postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. The storm is expected to stretch from Windsor east to Elgin and Niagara into Monday.

Chatham-Kent police are also reminded people to be careful as they head to Super Bowl parties. They are urging people to drink responsibly and plan for a ride home.
