A weather alert has been issued for Windsor, Essex and Chatham-Kent Saturday.

Environment Canada says a low pressure system will affect southern Ontario Saturday into Sunday.

Current indications suggest that areas along and south of a line from Sarnia through Markham towards Kingston will see snow changing to rain with a risk of freezing rain. In these areas, five to 10 centimetres of snow are expected before changing to rain later in the day.

Rain is expected to change back to snow Saturday night with an additional couple of centimetres possible. Any freezing rain that occurs during the changeover from snow to rain is expected to be brief.

Although these locations that see a changeover to rain will rise to just above freezing, untreated surfaces may still be quite icy as the ground temperature may be below freezing due to the colder than normal weather this season.
