A University of Windsor coach was seated on plane destined for Brazil, when it was rerouted back to Toronto.
Chantel Vallee boarded her flight Wednesday night at 11:30 p.m. in Toronto. The women’s basketball coach was heading to Brazil for the opening day of training camp for that county’s female Olympic team – but that changed at about 5 a.m.
“The captain woke us up and explained to us that we have been returned and that we were on our way back to Toronto. That we were about a half hour away from landing and that we would be landing back in Toronto because of a problem with the Brazilian government.
When the flight landed, the plane was met by a heavy police presence. That’s when Vallee says officers boarded the plane and escorted a man off the flight.
It’s still unclear what the individual did.
Vallee has since re-boarded her plane and is on route to Sao Paulo.
