The sky will light up in front of thousands this weekend as the Fahrenheit Festival of Fire Sculpture returns to LaSalle.

Eight fire sculpture artists including Steve Daigle are working round the clock this week to finish some one of a kind masterpieces.

Daigle is building two pieces for the festival including a butterfly and a rising sun.

He will put in up to 40 hours work for the five minute burn but he says its worth it. “That’s whole fascination I think we're genetically coded to watch fires or something and it's just such an old ritualistic thing that I think people can sit there and watch it forever."

This is the ninth year for the family friendly event.

It’s the only one of its kind in Canada.

The event at Vollmer Recreation Complex will feature work from eight artists from as far away as Montreal.

It starts on Saturday at 6:00 pm, culminating with the burn of 12 unique sculptures at 8:30.
