The Windsor International Film Festival has announced Peter Coady is stepping down as executive director and will be replaced by Vincent Georgie.

In a statement, Coady says “The time is right to hand over the reins…I am honoured to have had the opportunity to lead WIFF and see it grow over the years…I look forward to working with WIFF in a different capacity in the years to come.”

The festival has tripled in size under Coady’s leadership, going from 31 screenings in 2010 to 97 screenings in 2013.

He also introduced initiatives like the Short Film Program, Can-Am Grand Prix of Cinema and the local film component of the festival.

Georgie has been part of WIFF’s board of directors since 2009 and helped develop the festival’s marketing and programming strategies.

He said in a statement “I am honoured and humbled to follow in Peter’s steps, someone I have worked closely with over five festivals and learned much from.”
