Chatham-Kent police say a Wheatley man forced his way into his neighbour’s home and ended up getting locked in the closet.

Police say around 8 p.m. Monday night the man forced his way into his neighbour’s home in Wheatley.

The homeowner confronted the man and a struggle ensued. During the scuffle, the man allegedly bit the homeowner’s finger.

The homeowner’s wife ran across the street for help and two other neighbours came over to render assistance.

Together, they were able to hold the man in a closet until police arrived, say police.

Both the homeowner and man were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention.

The 41-year-old Wheatley man has been arrested and charged with break and enter and assault. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
