A look at Windsor-Essex entertainment for Sept. 22 – 25.
Windsor Symphony Orchestra
Windsor Symphony Orchestra is kicking off its 69th season with a bang. The 65-piece orchestra will play in front of a packed house with upgrades to the stage and seating at the capitol theatre.Music Director Robert Franz conducting says he’s excited about the first show on Saturday. It features world renowned pianist Charles Richard-Hamelin Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5. Although the show is sold out, Franz says there's a waiting list. Season ticket holders who can’t attend, can make their tickets available. The three-hour show is set to start at 8 p.m.
Ruthven Apple Festival
Plenty of live musical entertainment at the Ruthven Apple Festival this weekend. Nine performers will take the stage at the event at Colasanti’s Tropical Gardens Saturday and Sunday. Included in the lineup are Pianomen tribute to Billy Joel and country singer Crystal Gage. The event also includes a parade, car show and apple peeling contest. Admission and parking are free.
Sean McCann
Sean McCann, known for his days with Great Big Sea, is performing at The Kent in Chatham at 8 p.m. on Saturday night. He’s on a cross-country tour called Road to Recovery.
Gabriel Iglesias
The comedian known as “Fluffy” is making a stop in Windsor on Sunday. Gabriel Iglesias brings his stand-up act to Caesars Windsor at 8pm on his “Fluffy Breaks Even” tour. He has been described as a witty, electrifying and talented performer. His first two DVD specials sold over a million copies and he had a spot in the “Magic Mike” movie. His previous visit to The Colosseum Tickets sold out, but there are still a few seats available.
Theatre
If you’re in the mood for theatre, “The Addams Family” is showing at the Kordazone Theatre and “The Three Muskateers is at the University of Windsor.
McGregor Mug Run
The McGergor Mug Run and International Beer Fest includes a 5 km and 10km run on Sept. 24.
