A look at Windsor-Essex entertainment for Oct. 26 – Oct. 29.

The Dining Room

Director Jim Warren says the idea of people sitting around a Dining Room table has become very rare.

"It's a nostalgic play about family values and traditions that have sort of gone by the wayside,” says Warren. "It looks back at different families from the 1930's up to the 1970s."

He hopes the University Players production will remind the audience of how important the dining room gathering used to be.

"The idea of sort of thinking back to your own family and how we sort of forget to connect," he says.

There are six actors in the show, but they each play 8 or 9 characters.

The production runs from October 27 to November 5, 2017 at the Essex Hall Theatre.  Tickets are $8-$22 and can be purchased online at www.UniversityPlayers.com.

Dallas Smith

An award-winning country singer is making a stop in Windsor tonight on his cross-Canada tour.  Dallas Smith has been to Windsor several times before, first as the lead singer of the rock band Default, and more recently as a country solo artist. He says this show will be even bigger and louder. The 39-year-old is coming off some big wins at the CCMA Awards, including album of the year and single of the year. He’ll be joined by special guest and former American Idol contestant Lauren Alaina.

Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre

Animal lovers and children of all ages are expected to enjoy the Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre. The Las Vegas-based blend of comedy and juggling skills of Gregory Popovich will be centre stage at the Chrysler Theatre on Saturday night. All of the trained animals – 15 cats and 10 dogs - have been adopted from animal shelters. Tickets are available online or at the Chrysler Theatre box office.
