Bourbon Street Experience

A treat for jazz, blues and funk lovers as the Bourbon Street Experience runs this weekend on Ottawa Street. Windsor band, The Funk Junkies, are performing on Friday night.  Colton Summers YoungChameleon and Dan Woods are also booked for the event. Organizers say music will fill every street corner and DJ Rye is hosting a dance party in front of Rockhead. The store transformations have already begun, but most of the set up takes place Friday. Tickets are available online and at the gate.

Romeo and Juliet

Windsor Dance eXperience brings a famous pair of star-crossed lovers to life in the creative re-telling of a Shakespeare classic. Romeo and Juliet hits the Capitol Theatre stage on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Organizers say it features an incredible cast, breath-taking costumes and set, and a modern twist on the tragic tale.  Tickets are $20 online and at the Capitol Theatre Box Office.

Fool For Love

Ghost Light Players presents "Fool for Love" - a play written by American playwright and actor Sam Shepard. The play focuses on May and Eddie, former lovers who have met again in a motel in the desert. It premiered in 1983 at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco, where Shepard was the playwright-in-residence.Tickets are available online at www.theatrewithoutfear.com

Summerfest and Carrousel of the Nations continue this weekend, with the Miss Via Italia Pageant taking place on Erie Street Sunday night.  

Detroit concerts

Several big name artists are stopping in Detroit over the next few days. Axl, Slash and Duff reunited for the Guns N Roses concert at Ford Field on Thursday night. At the same time country super star Keith Urban was at the DTE Energy Music Theatre.  Ringo Starr was also at the Fox Theatre on Thusrday.

Multi-platinum singer and actress Selena Gomez brings her worldwide “Revival Tour” to the Palace of Auburn Hills on Friday. In anticipation of a near capacity crowd and construction on Lapeer Road, fans are encouraged to arrive early for the 7:30 p.m. concert.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is performing at the Freedom Hill Ampitheater on Saturday.
