The president and CEO of the Windsor-Essex Regional Chamber of Commerce says work can now begin to ask the federal government for an expedient review of the impact business attraction efforts from foreign jurisdictions is having on the national economy.

Matt Marchand says the agreement from other chambers is a huge win here at home.

“Canada’s international competitors are increasingly using hyper-aggressive techniques to lure Canadian businesses, causing job losses here at home and weakening the Canadian economy.”

Marchand says the practices has an impact of both gross domestic product losses and diminishes employment opportunities.

The Windsor-Essex chamber and London chamber raised the issue in June during the provincial meeting with other chamber agencies.

It now has national recognition after being passed at the national meeting which was held in P.E.I. from Sept. 27 to the 29.
