With the 2014 municipal election now in the books, officials say Windsor’s voter turnout was the lowest since 1997.

Windsor’s Manager of Records and Elections, Chuck Scarpelli says just 37.51 per cent of eligible voters casted a ballot on Monday night.  It’s a decrease of about 8 per cent when compared to 2010, where 46 per cent hit the polls.

In the Rose City there are 156,663 eligible voters for this election, but only 58,770 ballots were cast. Scarpelli described the turnout as being about average.

In 2006, the city saw 38 per cent of the eligible vote and 31 per cent in 1997.
