A vigil was held at Windsor’s Capitol Theatre Thursday evening in recognition of World Aids Day.

The vigil to honour those who have died as a result of HIV and Aids was part of an event aimed at ending the stigma on those living with the disease.

A collage of 710 individuals from the community who have been impacted by the disease was put together with the hopes of putting a face to the campaign.

The Aids Committee of Windsor acknowledged World Aids Day by holding a procession from their agency all the way to the theatre.

World Aids Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV. The organization says about 75,000 people in Canada are living with HIV or Aids.

Officials say about 150 people took part in the vigil.
