The Windsor University Faculty Association (WUFA) and the University of Windsor administration will sit down with mediators on Wednesday.

The news came just hours after a group of students started holding a sit-in outside the university president's office, asking the school to return to the bargaining table.

According to the administration, both sides have "agreed to request the assistance of senior provincial mediators from the Ministry of Labour."

Wednesday and Thursday have been set aside for the contract negotiations.

There will also be no work stoppage during the talks, the university says, though WUFA had set Wednesday as the strike deadline.

As in previous negotiations, no public statements will be issued by either party during the mediation.

The two sides last met with a provincial mediator last Tuesday.
