Leaders with the faculty association at the University of Windsor are warning students of a half day walkout by its members on Thursday.

The walkout will start at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m. Classes are expected to resume by 1 p.m. Windsor University Faculty Association president, Anne Forrest says they posted a warning of the job action on their website and tweeted out the information on Tuesday.

Forrest says she is hoping for meaningful discussions next week when the association’s negotiating team sit down with representatives from the university administration in what she describes as exploratory mediation.

She says her members are still seeking a negotiated settlement.

Forrest says if a deal isn’t signed by Oct. 1 members could go on a full strike sometime in the fall.

University of Windsor president, Alan Wildeman did not comment on Monday, but has said other university staff have accepted a wage freeze and faculty need to help the institutions finances.
