Leaders from the Windsor University Faculty Association say they want a contract for their members to be negotiated, and not imposed.

Membership voted 99 per cent in favour of holding a strike vote on Aug. 14.  Faculty took the vote during a membership meeting at the Fogolar Furlan Club Wednesday evening.

Professors say they have no interest in disrupting classes come September.

The meeting was held after the University of Windsor imposed a new contract on its 1,000 faculty members.

University of Windsor president, Alan Wildeman says the faculty will get a $1,000 lump sum payment and receive $2,500 added to their base pay.
