Windsor police say a brother and sister were wrongly targeted during a violent downtown Windsor home invasion.

The incident happened in the 1300 block of Oak Street around 3:50 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A 30-year-old man heard the doorbell and answered the door. Police say three men forced their way into the home after asking for “Steve”. The victim told them they had the wrong house.

Police say the victim was beaten unconscious. He remembers the men demanding cash and “ice” and seeing knives and a baseball bat, according to police.

The victim’s sister, 31, was in the bathroom when the suspects first arrived. Police say she couldn’t get out initially because the suspects were holding the door. She tried to escape through the window, but the suspects opened the bathroom door and dragged her to the living room.

Police say she was repeatedly kicked and punched.  The suspects were insisting that they knew it was a "drug house".  The suspects fled the scene with a small amount of cash and the woman went to a neighbour’s house to call police.

Both victims were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking for four male suspects – three involved in the attack and a getaway driver seen by witnesses.

The first suspect was described as white, 5'8", 20 to 25 years old, with dirty-blonde hair in a brush cut.  He had scars on face and substantial bruising around cheek and right eye.  He was wearing a grey jacket and a dark sweater.

The second suspect was white and 20 to 25 years old. The third suspect was black with a light complexion and 20 to 25 years old. He was wearing a baseball cap and may have had a lead pipe.

The fourth suspect was Middle Eastern, 20 to 25 years old, 5'5" with a stocky build. He was wearing a black hat, dark clothing and had a large knife.

Police say the getaway car was newer model, metallic green vehicle.
