Essex County OPP say two horses had to be put down after getting hit in two separate incidents in Kingsville and Essex on Saturday.

The first collision took place on Essex County Road 29 near Essex County Road 18 in Kingsville at 6:35 a.m. Police say two horses ran in front of a pickup truck. One of the horses was struck. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Ten minutes later, police say a horse ran out in front of a 2002 Toyota in the 12000 block of Essex County Road 15 in Essex. The driver of that vehicle was not hurt.

In both collisions, the horses were put down due to their injuries by a veterinarian.
