Two cyclists were hit by cars in Chatham-Kent Friday, resulting in one charge.

The first collision happened at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Sandy Street and Sudbury Drive in Chatham.

Police say a young female cyclist was struck while crossing the street when a vehicle turned on Sudbury Drive.

She was taken to hospital with minor injuries. A Dresden man is charged with a turn, not in safety.

The second collision happened at 10:15 p.m. at Base Line and Union Line.

Police say a 16-year-old cyclist from Dresden was travelling along the road when he was struck from behind.

He was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver was not charged.

Police say in the past 24-hour period, they reponded to12 vehicle collisions.
