A 54-year-old truck driver was airlifted to hospital after crash on Highway 401 in Chatham-Kent.

Chatham-Kent OPP responded to the crash just after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, involving a Volvo tractor trailer on Highway 401 eastbound, near Queens Line.

Police say the collision occurred when the tractor trailer left the roadway and rolled, coming to rest in the south ditch.

The 54-year-old male driver from Flamborough Township, Ont., was taken to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to another hospital shortly thereafter.

The driver is reported to have non-life threatening injuries at this time.

The highway was closed eastbound for several hours and reopened Wednesday morning.
