Windsor police are reminding the public to lock their cell phones and prevent accidental 911 calls after a toddler called dispatch 12 times Monday morning.

Police say dispatchers received 12 emergency 911 calls in less than an hour from a 2-year-old who was playing with an old cell phone.

Dispatchers eventually spoke with the mother and learned that she was allowing the child play with an old cell phone.

Police are reminding everyone that even old cell phones without plans are capable of dialing 911 and shouldn't be considered to be a toy.

Preventable, accidental 911 calls needlessly tie up dispatchers and take them away from real emergency calls, say police.
