The flags have been lowered at Tecumseh Town Hall following the death of town councillor Michael Rohrer.

The Ward 2 councillor died suddenly this morning of a suspected heart attack. He was taken to hospital but doctors were unable to revive him. Rohrer was 44 years old and leaves behind his wife and three children.

Tecumseh mayor Gary McNamara says his death is a huge loss to the community. He described Rohrer as a passionate man who wasn't afraid to speak up or ask questions. He says Rohrer led the fight to try to prevent the closure of St. Gregory School.
