Windsor city council will be asked to consider using synthetic ice for Charles Clark Square.

The parks department is hoping council will approve a one-time payment of $56,000 for the outdoor rink.

Hard to believe on a chilly day like today, but park managers say Windsor’s warmer winters present a challenge for the refrigeration unit to keep the ice surface frozen and hard.

During the winter of 2012, skating wasn't allowed in Charles Clark for almost 30-days, amount to about a third of the season.

The idea was discussed in 2000, but turned down because of the cost.
