It’s been a long time coming, but the wait will soon be over at Charles Clark Square.

The synthetic ice the City of Windsor order has arrived, but it’s still unclear when exactly skaters will be able to enjoy the outdoor rink in the downtown.

Crews were at Charles Clark Square Wednesday prepping the area, by removing the ice covering the surface. Salt is essentially ineffective due to the cold weather and is holding up the process.

In December, city council approved the purchase and installation of the 70' X 90' synthetic surface, supplied by Synthetic Ice Solutions of Canada.

The rink will be laid sometime next week, with the ice to follow a short time later.
